Lilly made an appearance at the Volunteer Recognition Party at Norbella today. She hadn’t been there for some time, so she was quite the celebrity! It was the most amazing celebration! I felt so appreciated and honored!

When you are a volunteer, most do not do the work for the recognition…most do it to make the world a better place. We are surrounded by lovely humans wherever we volunteer and none that I have met do it for the attention. Most, like me, simply want to serve and stay “behind the curtain” if possible.

So, the question is…What do volunteers get out of volunteering?

Most just want to help. Some need to be needed, while others want to give back during their extra time. It gives the volunteer a warm, fuzzy feeling and the knowledge that they are doing something to help in some way.

I can embrace most of those reasons on some level, but mostly, I just love sharing my dogs with the world. As for the Goldens, they just love to be loved! Perhaps, that is the most important reason of all.
