Day 1115
Our Sammy is finally showing signs of settling down. His destiny WILL be sharing his love as a Therapy Dog, but I keep waiting for him to magically morph into that role. Patience is a wonderful thing…but when it gets confused with procrastination, nobody wins! Today, I decided that our boy needs some extra support on his journey.
Ranger and Lilly had taken 32 weeks of training and had certified for Therapy Dog work by their first birthday. Sam turns three next month! It’s time to start pushing the envelope! His obedience skills are incredible, it is just his “social skills” that need help. That will take some outside guidance, so back to school we go!
There have certainly been times in my own life when I needed support and direction to reach my potential and achieve my dreams. Mentors stood beside me and guided me with their wisdom. “Cheerleaders” shouted ovations when I needed to hear words of support and loved ones comforted me when I met with failure. In the end, I reached seemingly unachievable goals because of the team surrounding me. We all need that support to climb the ladder to our goal.
*People to hold the ladder steady
*Those who call out the best footing on the rungs
*Someone near the top to encourage you upwards
*Those who cheer you with each upward motion
*People who congratulate you when you make it
It is hard to accomplish your dreams going solo
What dear Sammy needs is a cheerleader to move him along the Therapy Dog journey. He can do it with a little help from his supporters! Now…it is my time to mentor and sign him up for his next class. I wonder if there is a “How to Beat the Zoomies” on the course list!?
