Day 114

9/5/22

This morning, the goldens got to go for an earlier walk because I had big plans for the day! Lilly and Ranger were happy to take their walk and head home for a chance to be couch potatoes. Gus seemed to know that something was up. During the walk, he stayed close and kept an eye on me! When we returned, he stayed right by my side. He will make a great Therapy Dog down the road!

After I finished walking, I placed them in their special areas (Lilly and Ranger in front of the TV, Gus on a day bed looking out the window) with Mac and jumped in the car with daughter Katie and family. It is her birthday today (twin brother Jimmy too) and we were off to celebrate at the Renaissance Festival! The sights, the art, the costumes, everything...it was all wonderful!

"People watching" was off the charts! It was hard to fathom the amount of time and talent that went into some of those outfits! I also had respect for the wings, make-up, tails, armor, staffs, swords and other heavy additions to those costumes!

Now, on to the four-footed-friends at the Festival! There were dogs EVERYWHERE! It was cooler today, so they were looking pretty happy! Many had costumes and all of them got along famously! There were water bowls everywhere for the pups and their panting faces looked so happy!

I saw Irish wolf hounds, Corgis, bull dogs, great Danes, yorkies, shelties, doxies, mastiffs, chihuahuas, pitties and amazing mutts! Not one skirmish or even a bark! Even the dogs were having fun!

I ran into the trainer Gus had when he was younger. It was Tiffany's first time and she was in awe! She asked about our boy and I told her that he still practiced everything she taught him. He was a pretty wild boy when we started! I couldn't walk for more than a couple steps without my little ankle biter digging in! We went from group classes to private lessons with that boy. Tiff LOVES the Naughty Ones, so she was enthralled with our Gus! He has come so far! Still hoping for a Therapy Dog certification within the year!

Today was a day full of fun and love for humans and dogs alike! I loved every minute of it, but my feet tell me it's time to go to bed! Happy Birthday, Jimmy and Katie! You make my world magical!
