Day 1149
Lilly seems to consciously choose to position herself in important walkways. Then, she proceeds to “counsel” the boys with throaty growls. Passing by her is not an option for any of the males and she honestly seems to enjoy it!
My parents always modeled and taught me to be aware of those around me. Even now, I make a concerted effort to not block the way for anyone who needs access in my vicinity. In other words, I am scanning any group setting to make certain that I am not in the way!!! Not everyone has that kind of radar.
When there are large volumes of people (fairs, shopping malls, concerts, etc.), there are always groups who stop in their tracks, stand in your way or fail to choose their activity with others in mind. They are often unaware that they are causing a traffic jam or impeding anyone’s enjoyment. Often, they move on without the realization that they might need to apologize…their lack of manners does not penetrate their existence! No lessons learned.
As frustrating as that can be, there is a lesson in patience for those of us who “read the room.” I can ALWAYS use more classes on that subject. When my frustrations build, due to “roadblocks” in my way, I ask myself this question: “What difference does a few moments make in the actual journey of life?” Take a breath, choose a new direction and continue on your path. Whether the individuals are blocking you physically, mentally or emotionally, simply go around them and look ahead to the open road of possibilities! Most of them are unaware of their impact anyway, so bypass them!
Even Lilly would understand!
