Day 1190
It has been a week since we kissed our girl on the nose one last time. Along with the sadness, we have been focusing a lot of love on the Golden Boys. Especially our dear Ranger has been missing his sister, so extra affection has been focused on him. The beautiful gifts, flowers, cards and treats for the boys have eased this journey. Our gratitude for the people she brought into our lives is heartfelt.
After 12 years of living with our sweet Lilly (11 years of Therapy Dogging), her presence is certainly missed, but gradually, memories have been surfacing…reminding me of how much she changed this world for many. The lessons learned would certainly include:
*Always embrace everyone and leave no one alone.
*Enjoy the sun on your back and the wind in your whiskers.
*Love the elderly… they smell like kindness and wisdom all mixed together.
*If someone is sad, use your empathy to share their tears.
*Enjoy nature! Swim in the lake, roll in the snow and sniff the fresh air!
*Don’t be afraid to growl a little if someone deserves a reminder.
*Wag your tail even when life is a challenge.
*Allow others to feel your love whenever they look in your eyes.
*Always be there for those you love the most…always
As much as the heart hurts, the love she gave us and the legacy she left behind make her life such a gift. What a privilege to be loved by a dog.
