Day 1210

Both of our younger Goldens have ‘Snuggle Puppies’ (“stuffies” with beating hearts), and seem to find great comfort with them. Often using them as a pillow, they also hold them close to their own hearts when sleeping. They seem to provide a true feeling of safety.

As a child, I had a “stuffie” of my own named Brownie. This little guy was so loved that he made “The Velveteen Rabbit” look fluffy. My mom would sew turtle neck shirts around his body to hold him together due to my firm grasp lest he disappear. She would also spray her Tigress perfume on his head so that he smelled like her…comforting indeed. I still have him and find serenity when I hold him.

There are certainly other objects in my world that calm my spirit and I cherish them. Some are heirlooms, others gifts, but all are part of my heart.

People can certainly bring comfort to others. When I allow my mind to search for those names, they bring tranquility by simply visualizing their faces. Each and every one is a true gift and keeps my journey on the right track.

Of course, I would be remiss if I did not mention my dear Therapy Dogs. Their job is to bring comfort to everyone they meet and they start that mission at home!
