Day 1231

There are people in your life who follow their own path for years and then, suddenly, they reappear right in the middle of your own journey. Kathy and Karen (they're twins) are two of those lovely surprises! Stopping by today, with a beautiful gift and cards to sympathize with our loss of Lilly (one of their sons actually drew Lilly on the front of a card!), they blossomed back into my life bringing so much warmth, comfort and compassion! I was touched beyond words.

Back in grade school, these two wove in and out of my life without my absolute knowledge of which one was right in front of my eyes. Even today, when asked if I could tell them apart, I got it wrong! They are certainly look-alike! However, this time, as their beautiful personalities were shared with me, I knew I wouldn’t confuse them again!

People from our past sometimes cross our paths bringing back long-forgotten memories from decades ago. They reminisced about my mom, who was their Brownie Scout leader. They remembered her fun personality, activities she led and her Minnetonka moccasins that were her favorite shoes of all time! They brought her back to life as we spoke with their vivid memories. What a gift!

It made me wonder how people might remember me…hopefully with kindness. As we follow our life’s path, what will our footprints leave in our wake? I believe we all want to be someone who made a difference and touched a few lives, here-and-there, with light and warmth.

Seeing these two faces from my past, I know they certainly made an impression. Their gentle kindness was admired even in the eyes of a little girl all those years ago. Seeing them again made me realize their kind spirits have touched countless lives I will never meet. Today, I certainly felt gratitude to be on the list of those many lives!
