Day 1266
Another Sammy face that says, “I love you…no matter what!” We had just had a “pawdicure” and I betrayed him. This boy offers his paw and lets you trim his nails as long as it takes. Today, I trimmed all and then noticed the tell-tale evidence of a nail cut beyond the quick. I was literally sick and ran for the flour to stop the bleeding. The entire time, he looked at me… not as if I had betrayed him… but as if I was still the most wonderful human EVER!!! We don’t deserve dogs.
There are times when we inadvertently hurt others. Even avoiding that at all costs, it still happens. When it does for me, I will not rest until an attempt(s) is made to remedy the situation. Even though the hurt was instilled with no malice, I still feel responsible. Although it is challenging, it also clears my heart’s turmoil when someone puts your mind at ease and offers to simply move forward.
Sammy can be a challenge, but his humbling love is a lesson for me. Yesterday, he was the guilty “ornament destroyer” while today, he was the injured party. That boy is pure love. He forgets and forgives without a thought. Following those pawprints is a hefty goal, but I can certainly try!
