Day 1308

Mr. Ranger NEVER gives up when it comes to “Tummy Time!" He begs, drools, and nudges to remind us that a snack is necessary for his very survival! If all else fails, he simply barks until we give in.

I have a tendency to “cave” when any loved one is in need. I take one look into the eyes of the person (or pup) who is asking for something and I ask myself, “Why would I say NO?” There are times when there is a very good reason related to health or safety, but often the answer is simply a selfish one. Too tired! Too messy! Too complicated! Too…. You name it. Realizing my own excuses were getting in the way of a loved one’s desires has made a shift in my life.

When Asher wants to jump in a puddle, if the pups want to play in the wet snow, if a blanket fort is required to take up the entire living room, or anything else is requested that takes extra effort on my part, I jump in.

Saying “No” can become a habit in this busy world. Reprogramming my brain to say ”Yes” has opened so many doors to joy! There are still a few “No” responses, but they are fewer and far between. Just ask Ranger!
