“I’ve got your back” is a promise most of us have heard before. The words offer a safety net in case there is a chance you could fail.

In any life, failing is a given. Nobody finds success with every single endeavor. On the continuum of effort, the biggest dreams we chase are the most challenging. For anyone who has not yet achieved a big goal, there probably needs to be a support system that is at the ready. Those who are discouraged because their dreams are out of reach need someone to “have their back” with encouragement to stretch a bit further. It might simply be one more attempt to reach the moment with a future chance to succeed.

There have been countless times in my own life when a dream has been abandoned for reasons beyond my control. As frustrating as it seemed at the time, in retrospect, the fork in the road I had to take, provided something even better. At the moment, however, it was defeating to my heart.

There have also been times when I have persevered and finally achieved the goal. Those moments are sweet indeed…rare, but rewarding!

In all cases, I have been lucky enough to have cheerleaders who “had my back”. With words of wisdom and support for another avenue, they have helped me move forward with a positive plan. Their place in my life will always be treasured.

Hopefully, I have also been behind a dream or two with support and encouragement. That is an amazing view indeed!
