Day 1369
Visiting seniors is the highlight of our week, a truly uplifting experience that fills our hearts with joy. We are fortunate enough to spend three mornings with these remarkable individuals, and the Golden Boys and I are deeply inspired.
The puppies each made an appearance recently and stole the show. As Charlie and Hank snuggled in, our elderly friends shared heartwarming stories of their own beloved dogs from the past. The memories unfolded and our golden babies were on Cloud Nine. Gentle hands stroked soft fur, and those fragile fingers seemed to steady as their minds remembered special fur babies of their own.
When people discover our commitment to Therapy Dogging, they often tell us it is such a selfless thing to do. But the truth is, we are the ones who gain the most from each experience. Especially with our senior friends, our hearts are filled with love and our lives are enriched. Being a part of their world allows us a window into their wisdom, insights, and love. How blessed are we?
With our younger readers, we are surrounded by youthful joy, energy and refreshing honesty as we share books together. Children always have an aura of magic surrounding their mere presence. We are so lucky to be part of their inner circle.
So, with the act of sharing our Goldens, we are the true winners. Whether at an elementary school, the hospital, a college or a senior living complex, we walk away with so much love tucked into our hearts.
Selfless? Hardly. We love our job and the rewards are endless. Even the dogs would agree. Although they can’t verbalize how special our visits are, wagging tails and Golden smiles tell the story. We are truly the lucky ones!
