Day 1398

These two had an appointment at the vets today and were deemed “perfect in every way”!! Both, now weighing well over 30 pounds each, are growing SO fast! Picking them up each day proves that they are still puppies, but that day will soon be history.

Watching my own children grow gave me years instead of months to notice the differences, but it seems like a whirlwind when I glance over my should to the early 1990s and beyond. First smiles, first steps, first days of school… memories forever cherished in my heart. However, instead of 20 years of watching them grow, it seems like only a few. It also feels like yesterday when they walked in the door with snow pants soaked from building a fort in the back yard. I truly miss those days.

As I grow older, time seems to travel at lightning speed. We have all been warned of this phenomenon, but now I see it to be true in my own world. Holidays come around more quickly, seasons swing to the next more rapidly and the years add up with startling speed.. The one gift is that the experiences remain in my heart and mind in a more vivid, meaning way.

Now, if I could just get Hank and Charlie to slow down and remain puppies for a LONG time! However, I better be content with living in the moment and enjoying them each and every day!
