Day 1483
Always surrounded by my “Golden Halo” makes my life more beautiful. Sure, they get underfoot sometimes, but it seems to me that their humans are their “every-things”. It humbles me deeply.
People are not as focused on the most important things in life. Of course, our loved ones, daily obligations and other commitments are front and center, but there is much more baggage tying us down. At times, faltering under the weight of auxiliary items of importance, I tell myself I simply have to work harder and faster to give everything a piece of the pie. That is not always a successful reaction. In reality, the slices get smaller and smaller…even the important ones.
Since you can only cut a slice of pie “so thin” before the dessert starts to crumble, it is important to make the slices big enough so that each can be served without collapsing. Hence, it would seem we need to choose the most precious things to be the bigger pieces in our pie. Perhaps that will allow us to enjoy more than a small bite.
When my steps grow a bit weary and my arms feel heavy with ALL the things I am carrying, I think of the pie analogy. When we carry too much of a heavy load, it’s hard to choose what to put down. When I honestly look at my priorities, those last on the list could be dropped by the wayside.
Well, it’s “Tummy Time” at The Big White House so I better get moving! The Goldens basically cut their pie in half with one big slice being their people and the other their food. I can live with that!
