Day 1485
We have spacious kennels at the Big White House that provide a safe and incredibly comfortable space for our dogs to rest and rejuvenate. While Ranger has free rein, Gus and Sam have their own cozy kennels in the bedroom if they choose to enter and unwind. Charlie and Hank are still learning, so they sleep in a shared kennel and are safely tucked away when we're out, giving us peace of mind. At night, their kennel is transformed into a snug retreat with quilts and soft bedding, making it a haven for them. They seem to absolutely love their kennels!
Keeping loved ones safe is a vital goal for me, and it's a challenge that I'm passionate about. The Goldens are a top priority, but Asher is often in the “Nanny Spotlight.” For example, yesterday was his first attempt at rollerblading, and what an incredible experience it was! His dad had bought him K2s and he was “ready to roll!” My Nanny radar must be pretty adept because I joined the experience in a minute or two. He was exceptionally good for a first-timer, and I couldn't help but verbalize my “Inner Nanny”…
“Whoa! You are truly amazing at that!"
“Holy Moly! I am impressed!”
Then, it went downhill fast!
“Asher, try to fall gently!”
“Watch out for the wall!”
“Slow down if you can!”
“Slow down when you get close to the street!”
These continued until I could read the look on his face. My comments were best left unsaid! I quickly turned my verbal barrage into a more positive offering!
The lesson for me was to choose loving, encouraging words instead of a steady “doom and gloom" commentary brought on by trying to safeguard my grandson from getting hurt. It doesn’t help anyone! Remembering this in other situations will make me a better cheerleader!!!!
