Day 1496
These two are a delight! They are loving, gentle and devoted. Outside of a bad case of the “Zoomies” now-and-then, they are just perfect!
One of our biggest concerns was bringing them home to a “Golden Halo” that was already established. We had many eyes and hands on the initial meeting, but we needn’t have worried… the old boys thought they were amazing! All that worry for nothing!
Accepting others is not a natural reaction in the animal world. A new usurper might be competition for food and shelter. They may also be a threat to safety.
Being distantly related to the that animal world, we seem to be born with that instinct to some degree. As we age, others might pose a threat to happiness in one way or another. Peer pressure, wants versus needs and a slight distrust of those we do not know (either instinctual or learned) can make us hesitant to trust. Our elders can also make us distrustful… just to keep us safe.
Now, there is a time and place to trust that gut instinct and not be so ready to let your guard down. It can be a struggle to know when to be open or guarded. Sometimes, you simply have to reach down and grab that instinctual knowledge and act accordingly.
Luckily, after a few minutes, Ranger, Gus and Sam decided the puppies posed no threat at all! They gathered them into their Halo and the rest is history!
