Day 1570
There are moments in life that take your breath away. Today, as Sammy and I returned from our morning walk, I glanced at my struggling hibiscus and saw the bloom. It literally made me catch my breath snd was followed by the response of “ooooooooo!” I was delighted!
As a child, there were so very many “firsts” that caught me reacting with wonder…
*When my parents bought a Maltese puppy, wrapped it up in a quilt and placed the bundle in my arms as a surprise
*Getting up on water-skis for the very first time
*Climbing to the highest limb of Old Oak
*Jumping into the frigid water of Lake Superior
Remembering those feelings, I fast forward through my life to the present day. Of course there were a number of breathtaking experiences along the way, but as I aged, it seems they are more subdued as I experience them. They still take my breath away, but in a gentle, grateful way.
There are so few times in my life that take me by surprise anymore, but it still happens. Like the child I was, I still catch my breath and marvel at the occurrence. Most are tied to nature, but they still make me say “ooooooooo!”
