Sammy had a partner during his visit to Walker today! Wearing his costume (saddle with rider), he and his little buddy brought smiles and laughter with every encounter! It was heartwarming!
Visiting with one of our beloved seniors, she got a good laugh out of our festive and adorable Sam.. As we continued our chat, I suddenly decided to let her name Sam’s little cowboy.
“Well…I think Denny is a great name! How about Denny Dementia? It sure fits around here!”
I laughed so hard! Even Sam seemed to approve as he leaned in and his cowboy partner rested on the senior’s lap!
As a Therapy Dog Team, we are there for the sad times, the moments when fear hangs heavily in the room and for those people whose closest friend is “Loneliness.” We are also there for the times when joy and laughter fill the room. I guess that’s life in a nutshell…and it is our privilege to be with people when they need a Golden friend to support them on their journey.
Today was a good day…but they are all “good days” at the other end of the leash.
