We are a home that is “Dog-Friendly.” This means…
*Shoes remain on. (I tell people my dogs don’t take their shoes off at the door.)
*Golden Glitter (doggy dander and tufts of fur) graces every horizontal surface.
*The floor is wet within a two foot radius of any water dish.
*The floor is littered with dog bones and chew toys.
*Dog beds are within a paw’s reach.
*Furniture is available to two and four-legged alike!
*Schedules revolve around Goldens.
There are other signs, but I admit our pups Rule the Roost!
Hank, seen sitting on my Nanny’s century-old couch, seems at home as he chews away. We have placed protective covers over the cushions, but the younger two have found them to be great for Tug-of-War.” That piece of furniture is great for Puppy Snuggles, so access is permitted. My grandmother would probably shake her head with an accepting smile.
There is a very fine line between spoiling our “charges” and loving them. I always feel that love is the reason. With anyone we hold close to our heart, we make concessions and allow for indulgences. After all, making loved ones happy feeds our own happiness.
It’s almost “tummy time,” so I better prepare their meal. Laced with Honey Nut Cheerios, served in pretty, seasonal glass bowls with a few “toppers” sprinkled on top, the spoiling continues…I call it love.
