Day 416

Today was "Bath Day" for the Goldens. Lilly and Ranger were first. They knew what was coming and were NOT excited. Sam and Gus caught on soon enough and cowered by the back steps.

The tools for this experience were many and varied:

* Three types of shampoo

* Doggy conditioner

* Ear cleaner

* Brushes and combs

* Scissors

* The Furminator

* Nail trimmers

* Quick Stop for nails cut short

* Electric razor

* Water Pick dog shower head

* Canine hair dryer

* Outdoor hose (hot and cold water)

* Towels

* Treats...many treats

It is quite the event!

In the past, we have tried groomers, but the Golden's stress level was extremely high. Even when I stood by their side during the entire episode, they shook, panted and whined. Poor babies!

It's worth it to groom at home where they are calm and feel safe. Their lower anxiety level is always reward enough.

Why do we do it! If it's better for them, it's better!

Right now they are all sacked out and watching Hallmark. If they could talk they wouldn't thank us even a little. They would say, "Good grief! We hope you're happy! Now we smell like NOT DOG!!! Thanks so!"

Oh well, this is one person who absolutely loves the smell of wet dog! Time to snuggle!
