Day 544
Some things simply work better in pairs. Shoes, geese, mittens, skates, socks and the Golden Twins are just a few. Other combinations can be challenging or impossible in the mix.
Take my Goldens, for example... everyone is happy in pairs, but add a third furry face and life gets a bit complicated. Gus and Ranger can be chewing a bone peacefully and then, in walks Sammy and the peace is shattered! Three can be a real challenge!
"One" can also be problematic. When Walking With Goldens, solo jaunts work every time, but often a lonely Golden (left to their own devices) is a naughty one! If Sam is sequestered to the sunroom, while the others are in their pack, trouble may begin to brew. That puppy has destroyed more than one item when left to his own entertainment!
"One" can also be a lovely thing. For people, retreating from the "throngs" can be healing, productive and healthy. Creativity can blossom when someone is left to their own devices. It all depends on the goal.
I am a "pack" human. Being alone for any length of time creates a need to be in the presence of someone else. Craving the company of others is a common occurrence within my heart.
To be with people and share their experiences of life are paramount to my happiness.
So, if you are a loner or thrive in a group, it seems to be growth- producing if you step outside of the box now and then. If "One is the loneliest number," try to do a few things alone now and then. If you tend to shun the crowds, push yourself to be open to a group activity from time-to-time. Both scenarios will open the doors to growth...and you can always retreat back to your comfort level when the noise, or quiet, becomes deafening!
Dogs don't have these issues...they are pack animals and need each other from long ago when others were critical for basic survival. Lilly and Ranger would agree 100%... until Sam gets the Zoomies!
