Day 1070

Family holidays are typically full of love…whether you walk on two legs or four. At The Big White House, we had a day full of love!

Any good family gathering has three things in common… good food around the table, laughter and love. Throughout my life, all three have been present one way or another. Carrying on the family traditions insures it will continue.

First, the family recipes and heirloom China appear and sets the stage for a festive gathering. My Nanny’s Noritake dishes, family silverware and great-grandma’s goblets adorn the table. Today, Easter baskets are shared with all and family recipes are the chosen fare. All the time, Goldens gather beneath the table in hopes of a fallen tidbit.

The stories around the table are rich and entertaining! Laughter erupts spontaneously and the happiness can be felt in the heart. Our yearly egg hunt carried the laughter outside while big kids, and Asher, ran around screaming with laughter as they gathered the hidden treasures and watched as one son-in-law decided to “re-hide” the eggs high up on trees!

Love…the best part…was everywhere! With ALL the family gathered around, my heart felt complete. Love was evident in the smiles, hugs and words exchanged between all of us. To tell someone, “I love you” right to their face is a cherished gift indeed.

The dishes are washed and put away, the decorations are stored and the extra food has been sent home. It was a beautiful day!

Did you know that there are only 249 days until Christmas?!?!?
