Day 1088

Ranger is becoming adorably stubborn in his old age! When we call, he comes in his own sweet time. When we ask him to “sit,” he thinks about it for a moment before complying. When we want to groom him, he has other ideas and heads to safety. He wants what he WANTS! Yet, he is one of the most precious things on four legs!

Stubbornness is often seen as a negative trait. When someone doesn’t want to comply, or “give in,” those who need something from that individual can become frustrated or upset. If Ranger is any example…. don’t hold your breath and hope he complies!

On the other hand, (or paw), stubbornness can be an asset! When someone has the tenacity to get the job done or succeed at a challenging goal, then being stubborn has a positive outcome! Perhaps a marathon, mowing the yard or receiving a degree have been achieved! Without a stubborn streak, you might not succeed.

So, for our sweet boy, we just need to try to see things through his big, brown eyes. It may not be a marathon, but he simply “wants what he wants”…and that is not asking a lot!
