Day 1090
oday is National Dog Mom’s Day! Perhaps it is a “Hallmark Holiday”, but it’s a nice thought!
At the Big White House, Mr. Mac and I refer to each other as Mommy and Daddy in the presence of our Golden Halo. It is so natural at this point, but I embrace it with all my heart. When they were pups, it never occurred to us to use our given names when talking to them. Looking back, we simply told the dogs…
“Take this to Daddy!”
“Mommy’s home!”
“Daddy’s got a treat!”
In a way, they are like our children. We supply all of their physical needs, shower them with love and include them in all the moments of our lives…just like kids! They return our offerings with unconditional love. It seems to be a fair trade.
For those people who have never been graced with these four-legged, furry children, it might be a challenge to understand this mentality. I am sure there have been times when people have looked at us and thought we go a bit overboard with our pups. If they only knew what we get back in return, perhaps they would change their minds!
So today, I am proud to be a Dog Mom!!!! Happy National Dog Mom’s Day to all of you ladies who are known by their dogs as “Mom!” You must be special to be loved so by your fur babies!
