Day 1105

They are always watching…ALWAYS! If you are a private person, a ‘Golden Retriever’ might be too much! For me, it’s just about perfect. Wherever I go, my minions follow. If they cannot get to me, they watch. I like to believe it is devotion instead of wondering when the next meal will be offered!

Sam’s (actually all four) constant companionship made me ponder…to what, or whom, am I that devoted? Of course, my family, Goldens and friends surfaced immediately. However, that was simply too easy! I needed to dig deeper!

Although I am committed to certain things in my life, I wouldn’t include those under the heading of “devoted.” For me, devotion creates a feeling of fulfillment and need. If it fills my heart with happiness, it would seem that my devotion is there. If the core of my being calls for it, then the devotion is real.

With those two caveats, it would seem that my devotion lies in trying to make the world a better place. As daunting as that seems, doors seem to open, opportunities are offered and my dogs lead the way. Simply by holding a leash and allowing my Goldens to work their magic, I have found my “extra-curricular” devotion.
