Day 1106
We went to the Anoka Memorial Day Service this morning. Well attended by people of all ages, and dogs, it was a beautiful event for all. The music was inspiring, the speakers illuminating and the bald eagle, flying by at just the right moment, was surreal.
The entire ceremony helped guide my heart in the right direction. We were not celebrating…we were honoring. During the “laying of the wreaths," I listened to stories from the hearts of those who had lost loved ones in a war…so many soldiers still under the age of 20. The pride and love could still be felt after so many years.
My “take-aways” from this event were humbling.
*There are so many extremely brave people in this world (and the next).
*A huge, respectful crowd was a beautiful thing to behold.
*There are amazing individuals who CHOOSE to share a part of their lives to protect our rights.
*Our country is incredible.
*I am proud to be married to a veteran!
Today, instead of wishing people a “Happy Memorial Day,” I choose to say, “Enjoy this beautiful day and remember those who made us free to choose how we spend it!”
