Day 1113
Every Anoka High School Graduation is scheduled to be at Goodrich Field. My parents and I graduated there, however my twins did not… It was a stormy night back in 2009, and Plan B sent us to the high school where a smaller number of family members were allowed to attend.
Tonight, the annual event followed Plan A… but it failed. A strong storm swept in and no Plan B was evident! They needed to cancel while still reading the “B” graduate names and everyone fled as the storm hit in earnest! They might attempt to try again tomorrow…we shall see!
Plans can change in a heartbeat and we must learn to adapt to move forward. When a group is involved, the leaders have the responsibility to make the new plan and notify the others as to the new direction. The real challenge comes when we face a change in our own individual plans and we can only trust our own instincts.
My steps when this happens:
Let go of the old…
Look at options…
Embrace the new plan…
Move forward without looking back.
Now, for all of those young “almost graduates” who still need their diploma…someone will offer them a Plan B and their memories of this night will be priceless! Soggy, but priceless!!
