Day 1132

Miss Lilly seems to have a sore leg. She was absolutely fine this morning, but after breakfast, she refused to put much weight on the damaged limb. She is “eating up the attention” (there’s plenty if it) with glee.

Although I do not like to be the center of attention EVER… much less when I am unhealthy, I am the first one to enjoy being a “nurse” to a loved one. Although I am sad that a person I care for is in pain, helping them recover fills me with a wonderful purpose and goal!

Whether it was an ear infection with one of my own children or a “man cold” suffered by my husband, I wield a mighty “sick tray!” Fluids, ice packs, a heating pad, warm chocolate chip cookies or reading aloud to the patient are just a few of the items I pull out of my little black bag of tricks.

It seems we all need to be needed in this life. Being appreciated fills our hearts with warmth. Now, I am setting my sights on Miss Lilly! Look out, Big Girl! Mama’s coming with her little black puppy bag!
