Day 1133

Gus was texting with his girl friend in Colorado this morning. He let Aubry know he had been invited to something called a “funeral” in the afternoon. Pointing out that the first three letters spelled “FUN,” he could hardly wait! Later he let her know there really was no FUN in “fun”eral!" Poor Buddy!

He actually received so much love, a few treats and lovely music. He seemed to be enjoying the moment! Of course, the real reason for his attendance was to comfort others. There were many dog lovers in attendance and a few children who loved to see a furry friend. Even though our boy was ready to go home after the event, he made a difference for those who were there.

We often “sign up” for activities that are not particularly fun in nature. Beyond Therapy Dog opportunities, I have volunteered for things that I immediately regretted raising my hand for. Almost every single time, my heart has been warmed in unexpected ways at each activity and it occurs to me that I would have “done it again” in hindsight.

Although hindsight is often 20/20, never hesitate to raise that hand…even Gus would agree!
