Day 1137

Back to the U of M with Miss Lilly. She is dealing with some low blood counts so gets a weekly shot. She does NOT enjoy the experience one little bit! Heading to the back area took two technicians and a “luring” Mama! The techs had to lift/push her the last few steps! After twenty minutes or so, they returned with our girl on the run…tail wagging and mind on escape! When she saw us, she ran straight into our arms. Sweet girl!

There are those people in life who have the arms we want to tun into. Receiving a hug frum them always makes the dark things lighter. They possess a quality that exudes a safe harbor. I appreciate those individuals more than words can express and have found solace and redirection within those arms.

Being that “person” to others is a wonderful feeling as well. Earning it may take years, but it’s worth the time and effort. It had been a privilege to welcome hurting or confused people into any safe place I can offer. A hug, a walk or a listening ear can all help someone who needs a bit of love. Being on the lookout for opportunities to comfort takes just a bit of empathy and awareness. Of course, in my case, it doesn’t hurt to have a sweet Therapy Dog by my side!
