Day 1136

Wet dog alert! We are well-stocked with towels ready to embrace our Goldens as they brave the rain and reappear through the doggy door. They DO NOT like to go outside in the rain, but they eventually must, and enjoy a good rub down when they are in the back entry. We sing “The Car Wash” as they get dried from head to tail. Given the choice, however, they would all prefer an indoor bathroom by far!

We love our showers, baths and a dive into a warm swimming pool. However, getting wet in a rainstorm or having someone unload a water balloon on a fully-clothed adult might meet with disdain. There seems to be a double standard involved.

This happens in life so often. Taking the pups for a walk on a blustery afternoon is not the same experience as heading them down to the river with sunshine and warm breezes. The same holds true for things we experience each day. Cold coffee in December, a bike ride uphill, yardwork in the heat and other occurrences can have a positive or negative effect depending on other factors. We either embrace those “thorns in our sides” or create a change in the routine to make it more enjoyable.

Heat up the coffee, look forward to the coast downhill from the top and wait for cooler weather for that mulch! The smallest choice can make such a positive twist to any experience . As for wet dogs, perhaps I can heat those towels in the dryer for their next outdoor adventure!
