Day 1139

To be near us, our Goldens will put up with most anything! Once positioned, they continue to face discomfort…because they find so much contentment from simply being in our presence.

There are certainly people and places, in everyone’s world, that bring that kind of peace. Sometimes, there are circumstances in life when we turn to our “safe people.” Hopefully, everyone has one or two of these individuals and others have a handful. They are few and far between since the very term “safe” must be earned through years of love, support, honesty and time. They are a gift.

As a parent, friend, spouse or relative, you can only hope that you fill that role for a select group of others. If not, search within to find a way to offer a shoulder to cry on or extend your arms for that special person who needs a hug. Celebrate with them, share wisdom and simply “be there” to listen.

My Goldens, in their own beautiful way, are four of my safe “people” and I am blessed to have others who are always there for me…always.

I believe I will wade through my pups right now and return some of that love with belly scratches, back rubs and snuggles. They deserve that and so much more!
