Day 1159

This is what I wake up to each morning! All four Goldens have a routine as they awaken and every one makes me smile! Ranger wiggles his entire body over for ear scratches. Lilly wants a full back rub…tail wagging, Gus does the “car wash” (entwining himself through my legs for scratches) and Sammy flips on his back and smiles. It never gets old!

Smiling, be it human or dog, is contagious. No matter how tired I am or what bad dreams accompanied my sleep, that smile from our baby boy is reflected on my own face. He smiles at me and I just can’t help smiling right back at him!

On my “walks with Goldens,” I consciously make an effort to smile at everyone we pass. Nine out of ten times, that smile is returned! I even include cars and other vehicles in my “Smile Goal!” When adding a friendly wave, the percentage is about the same!

So, try it on your next walk, shopping spree or grocery gathering! Smile, even though your heart is NOT breaking…and even if it is, it might start the healing process!
