Day 1162

Today, I began taking photographs for the fifth (final) book in the “Teddy Bear Chronicles.” My mind knew exactly what I needed to capture, but my pups had other ideas! Whenever I would position the characters for the shot, one would move…and I don’t mean a stuffed animal! Working with my Goldens for a photo shoot is not always simple, but their energy pulls me forward.

Using treats, past training and a cajoling presence, the success ratio was about 1 in 10! Of course, the Goldens had no idea what I was attempting, yet I somehow expected them to pose for the camera! Silly me…

In life, there are many opportunities to be evasive when we need to be crystal clear! Fearing that toes may be stepped on or feelings hurt, I sometimes tend to dance around the real message when clarity might be the best avenue. When delivered with honesty and compassion, the truth is usually the path to travel.

So, back to my photo session with confused pups. The stuffed animals are very well-behaved and reliable. Perhaps the Goldens will follow their example? Even if they don’t, at least their confusion is an honest reaction and that is a gift!
