Day 1161
Day 1161. “Walking With Goldens”
“Relax!” “Sit down and rest!” “Your list will wait!”
I have heard those sentiments repeatedly, yet it is still a challenge to simply SIT! I honor the request …usually from my beloved husband, but after about a minute, I start casting about for something to do as I simply SIT. Today, as I sat on the front porch, I found myself regretting that my knitting project was inside, that my pile of untouched magazines was out of reach and that I had left my To-Do List on the dining room table! Surrounded by my halo of goldens, I searched for a guiding message. There, right before my eyes, was that missive! Gus was relaxing without a care in the world! What a role model for his mama!
So…I literally forced myself to sit and attempted to relax. I made it for about five minutes, so that’s progress! Small steps are necessary for this venture into relaxation!
For those few moments of “relaxation”, I observed my Gus. Obviously, his physical appearance looked relaxed. His breathing was rhythmic and he seemed to be smiling. The sun was a warm blanket on his back and no real disturbing sounds or smells filtered into his being. True relaxation!
To my surprise, I had-spent five minutes contemplating the relaxation techniques of my Golden and I felt relaxed …if only for a moment!
Gus will be my mentor and I will TRY to slow down! After all, that list will wait for five minutes …right?
