Day 1169

Windows let the light in, but they also allow a connection to the world. I absolutely love my windows!

I have waved goodbye to loved ones who are standing in a window, there have been moments when I have been the one waving farewell from behind the glass and times when adventure plays like a movie as I gaze without. I have looked out at lightning, snow and rain while feeling safe on my side. There have been countless pups waiting for me just beyond the glass… showing their love with beautiful “Nose Art.”

When I search for my best window memories, a few come to mind…

There was my beloved childhood friend who allowed me to be a part of her family. Growing up with “Mom 2” and “Dad 2” partially molded me into the person I am. When I was older, with children my own, “Mom 2” strung Christmas lights in a window at the back of their house where just I could see them from my own window. She told me that every time I saw them, I would know how much they loved me. Precious people…

The windows of our bay hold a special place in my heart. I have been told that my grandfather, who was very ill during World War II, would be wheeled to sit in the bay to watch for my father’s return from the army. I love to look out and see the world through those eyes.

There is a Mickey Mouse stained-glass window in our living room. It really is a unique and beautiful piece found on a long road trip to see dear friends. I have lost count of the times people have told me they drive by just to see it and feel happy!

Working in my classroom, a very beloved student came to my open window and placed his hand against the screen. I slowly placed mine against his and we simply smiled. That was a beautiful, life moment indeed.

Windows offer so much more than just light…they give and receive joy, offer weather reports, become a portal for love to flow and offer a canvas for Golden Nose Art. The Big White House has 50 of these lovely offerings, with a few glass doors in addition. Each one offers a different look at the same world…
