Day 1170
Front porches are some of my favorite places to be! In the past, these structures were built to help the residents stay cool in the summer heat and invite neighbors to socialize with their friends. In Minnesota, there is a real need for this social setting as winter tends to send us all scurrying inside until the snow melts.
The Goldens absolutely love our front porch! Cooling from the fan above and the space below the porch, it also offers a wonderful perch for “people and dog watching.” This also gives the pups the license to bark at anything daring to move within their sight boundaries!
Although we tend to have numerous visitors to our own front porch, tonight Mr. Mac and I were treated to an invitation to sit and visit on someone else’s porch…or should I say veranda! At the Ticknor Hill Bed and Breakfast, the hosts are beyond welcoming and charming. They make everyone feel like family and know just how to put people at ease. Even Sammy settled down!
Find a porch or veranda to visit and take a walk back in time. Many of these structures have “lived” longer than the humans who grace their chairs. Oh! The stories they could tell!
