Day 1199

Laughter has been dubbed “The Best Medicine” and I totally agree! Although not a prescription from the doctor, perhaps it should be! There have been studies statistically showing that endorphins are released with a good belly laugh!

Our Golden Boys certainly provide us with plenty of opportunities for smiles, grins and laughter. Their antics are often comical and are made more humorous because they are oblivious to their humorous impact.

In my past, I have not always been proud of the moments when my laughter got out of control. Of course, there are memories of getting the giggles at church, in a classroom or any other venue where laughter was unwelcome.

When in high school, my dear Marlene and I would crawl over the tall fence to run around the locked track at the football field. One evening, after running the track for a mile or so, it was time to climb the fence and hike our legs over to jump down on the other side. I made it and turned to see my sweet friend caught on the barbed wire! Instead of hurrying over to free her, I proceeded to lie down on the grass and laugh hysterically! I could hardly breathe! Bad friend!

With my same sidekick, we attended her mother’s induction to a revered position in Eastern Star. During the ceremony, we absolutely lost it to the point of “fake coughing” to cover our hysteria! Again, not one of my proudest moments!

Even though there have been “dark” moments in my laughter history, I love to laugh! It feels good from head to toe and seems to leak a bit of joy and light into this world. Go ahead! Laugh! Just watch out for that barbed wire!
