Day 1215

There are certain faces that can entice you to do whatever they ask…Sam has that face!

A combination of love and connectedness, those faces might be few in number, but powerful! Not every family member or friend has that pull, but those who do are precious indeed!

I think of my own “Nanny” who was my role model for so many qualities. Striving to follow in her footsteps has illuminated her kindness, devotion, humor and so much more! Huge shoes to fill, but it is a goal I keep on life’s journey.

My grandmother was one of those people who “had the look”. In her 90’s, her sweet eyes were magnified (behind thick glasses) to show absolute goodness. She rarely asked for anything, but if she needed something, I would move mountains to answer the call.

Independent, to a fault, one day, I found her up on the kitchen counter with her feet in the sink…washing windows. Another time, she had sawed off the legs on her bedframe because it was too tall! Both times, I arrived in time to celebrate the event, but too late to do the job for her. Begging to get her to ask for help, she agreed to a point. Still, she had her adventures!

Giving those “faces” whatever makes them happy brings me joy as well. With my Nanny as the first “face” that tugged at my heartstrings, there are now many who have “the look”. Furry faces included, it is a privilege to answer whatever need they have!
