Day 1227
Ranger was a Rock Star at Walker this morning! He was charming, lovable and so well-behaved!!!! When he arrived home, he proceeded to immediately fall asleep on the kitchen floor. He was “The Bestest Boy!”
Being tired is certainly part of life, but rectifying the cause of that weariness is not easy for everyone…especially me! My response to being tired is coffee, movement, pushing physical boundaries and more coffee! Eventually, it catches up with you!
Still, I drink the coffee and push to the limit. It almost feels like resting, or actually putting my “feet up” is “giving up.” There is nowhere in my memory when someone taught me that testing the limits of physicality is a worthy goal. Also, I was never chided for being tired or exhausted.
Having said that, I was taught (by modeling) that you need to finish what you’ve started and always do your best on any project. So I internalized those lessons and feel that there a need for constant attempts to finish every project to perfection. Of course, that is impossible and leads to frustration and exhaustion.
With Mr. Mac as a coach, I try to sit (for a moment), take a quick nap (only when my eyes won’t stay open) and leave a job half-done to be completed the next day. (This causes anxiety.) I am a “work in progress,” but there is hope!
Perhaps I should really take my lessons from Ranger. His motto might be, “Never miss the opportunity for a nap!” I will keep trying!
