Day 1257
Gus went to Norbella this morning. He was dressed as a “Wide Retriever,” bringing many smiles to faces that don’t seem to smile as often as their “smile lines” would suggest.
Bringing smiles to faces is what ‘The golden Boys’ do best!
Faces can tell the story of someone’s life. I have seen lines that would suggest sadness or years of concern. Other wrinkles might mean that a person frowns and has felt anger over the years. The faces l am drawn to have lines that evolved from happiness and excessive smiling (possibly belying a life of challenges)! Crinkles around the eyes and wrinkles formed by the corners of a mouth often turned upward are those I want to know.
As we become more “seasoned” (older), we are bombarded by ads for creams and serums, injections and makeup which conceal those lines. Looking younger does not always share your truth…
For me, I simply lean into my age and feel blessed for each and every day. The wrinkles gather and my only hope is that they tell the story of someone who squinched up her eyes and smiled more than not, with true happiness and gratitude.
