Day 1258

Last night, after the trick-or-treaters had their fill of candy, we shut off the lights and began the transformation to Christmas. Down to storage went the jack-o-lanterns and up came the trees and ornaments. I am a Christmas girl at heart!

Some changes are glorious while others can be challenging at best. We were at a Celebration of Life today, where emotions ran the gamut and my dear friend changed her response to the differing condolences as she honored her husband. She worked the crowd like a pro with grace and love, being more of a hostess than a grieving wife.

Life is full of changes. In fact, the ebb and flow of existence is all about fluctuating and adapting. Some change is easy (like swapping decorations from one holiday to the next) while others absolutely alter life as we know it. Leaning into that change is all we can do.

As I look at the lights on my newly decorated tree, I hold my friend close to my heart…so close! My hope is that she can find a new happiness with the change she is enduring. I believe she will.
