Day 1276
Day 1276. “Walking With Goldens”
Our boys do not like to be left alone…ever! Sammy tends to try to “find” us by scratching through the door!!!! Their happiness depends on us and our nearness.
Most people do not like being left behind either. Although choosing to have some solitary times can rejuvenate and recenter, being alone without any choice can be lonely indeed.
When visiting our seniors, there are often those who are alone through no choice of their own. In today’s busy world, with multitudes of senior care options, families often choose to keep their older loved ones safe by having them placed in these living spaces. Once a resident, they often find themselves lonely. Families are busy and their believe their elders should have many options for entertainment, but the seniors seem to feel “left behind.”
The Goldens try to help a little now-and-then, but we can only reach a small number of lonely people. Hopefully, they receive many phone calls, visits and outings with loved ones. This gives them such joy! No matter what the circumstances, the seniors are often safer and happier in their senior living residence.
Like the boys, seniors need to be with people. Better yet, seniors need just a bit of power and say in their own care and perceived loss of freedom. Just a few simple choices can make all the difference!
So we visit those beloved seniors and repaint doors here at The Big White House. It is a privilege to take away a bit of angst in this old, hurting world!
