Day 1289

Although I do better in my “whirling dervish” mode, I realize that quiet time is essential for heart, mind and soul. If we didn’t take a breather now-and-then, the rest of the day would be more challenging.

It is my daily goal to achieve perpetual motion. Just think how much I could accomplish in 24 hours!!!!

My great-grandfather convinced my sweet dad that he had achieved that very miracle. This is the relative who lost his legs in a blizzard, so he devised an apparatus that connected to one of his wooden knees. From there, he fed a wire up through the dining room table and connected it to a ‘toy top’. By sitting at the table, he could maneuver the wire with his leg to keep the top spinning eternally (…or until his leg was tired)! At the age of seven or eight, my dad was amazed and full of wonder. Perhaps I inherited some of my ancestor’s desire to keep something in motion… namely myself!

So, I have forced myself to sit by the tree each morning and actually SIT! I allow myself to read or think as I enjoy a cup of coffee. Of course, my Golden Boys are with me and keep me literally grounded. It rejuvenates the spirit and brings me peace and joy. Not bad for an activity I fought against for years and years!

My advice is to find the perfect chair and make an effort to relax and restore the mind and body before you attack the day. It also doesn’t hurt to have three Golden Boys who insist on all the love and attention I can offer!
