A guest recently said, “I bet everything in your home has a story.” She was absolutely right. If Marie Kondo showed up at my house, I would completely frustrate her. She would ask me to pick up an item and have me tell her if it brought me joy. If not, out the door it would go. For me… everything would stay!

Last year, a dear friend sent me a beautiful ornament which is entitled “Five Goldens Ringing”. He won the Loveland. Colorado, Ornament Competition! He sent me one and I adore it more than I can say! Sorry, Marie Kondo…it stays!

Behind the ornament is my Nanny’s china hotplate. She would make her coffee in a percolator on the stovetop and then set the pot on the plate while we played cards or chatted. Oh, the memories of that item!!! Marie Kondo! It stays!!!

Almost every item in our home was a gift, an heirloom or a souvenir from a wonderful memory. Someday, my own children will shake their heads and wonder about my plethora of precious things. If they warm my heart, they stay! Even Marie would understand!
