Living on a “small town” is not for everyone. Big cities have their alure with all the lights, activity and excitement , but small towns are certainly the background for Hallmark movies. Our hearts know there is a reason for that.

Anoka has been home to my family for decades… actually over a century and our roots run deep. It certainly had links to the mythical Lake Wobegon where “all the women are strong, all the men are good looking and all the children are above average!” There is some truth to that quote!

Tonight is the annual Tree Lighting with bonfires, horse-drawn wagon rides, carolers, food carts and more. There will be the customary countdown to the illumination of the tree followed by fireworks. Family and friends head down and huddle together to watch and wait… it is worth every cold shivering second.

This town is loved by many. For me, it is a combination of history, family, memories and charm. Even the dogs seem to be strong, good looking and smarter than average l…just like the people! The Golden Boys would agree!
