Day 1298

Whenever I leave on a solo adventure, Sam waits in the window until I return, a testament to his unwavering loyalty and devotion that fills my heart with joy and gratitude. Mr. Mac notes that Sam remains steadfast at his post until he sees me safely back home, a sweet reminder of the deep connection we share.

This unshakeable bond inspires me to cherish and nurture our relationship, honoring the unconditional love and trust that Sam and all my Goldens bring to our family. As I believe that every dog deserves a life filled with love, care, and adventure, I am committed to creating a world where they can thrive, surrounded by the attention and devotion they so selflessly give to us.

For the people in our lives, we may have that same type of caring love; however, after humans are older, their independence does not attract the same level of connectedness. They do not require us for every need or want; they find a portion of that fulfillment through others.

For the Mommys of the world, this is a bitter pill to swallow. We are often wired to be a constant companion, to kiss the boo-boos, be an Uber driver, teacher, and a host of other roles that guide their way. When they become independent, we are left like Sammy in the window! Grandchildren, volunteering, decluttering, and other things fill the void, and dogs, especially dogs.

The different phases of life certainly guide our journey. Happiness fills my heart with my station in life, but I sure do love those Goldens in the window! Their devotion fills any empty crevices that might be in the heart!
