Day 1302
Ranger was at his “Happy Place” with the Lincoln Readers this morning. He relaxes while the children read and pet him. If they stop touching his Golden fur, he reaches out to put a paw on their arm or leg. He simply loves to be touched.
He often looks for me and reaches for my hand. I hold his paw, massage it and marvel that this big retriever seeks love and affection in the most gentle ways. He is an angel.
Hands fascinate me. I look at Asher’s hands and often marvel at what they can do. I sometimes wonder what the future holds for those little hands. Their potential is limitless..
Today, my own hands have written cards, wrapped gifts, driven a car, groomed dogs and accomplished a multitude of other necessary activities. They have also rubbed a sore shoulder, dialed a number to check on a hurt friend and turned on our Christmas candles in the windows to illuminate the dark. Perhaps their most heart-touching moment was when Ranger needed to hold my hand…Sweet Boy.
Our hands are such miracles. Being aware of their many jobs, accomplishments and gentle ministrations is worth the effort it takes to be aware of how they make our lives so much better.
I think l will ponder their impact on the day and start by holding a paw or two.
