Day 1329

There are numerous decorative signs regarding the connection between dogs and their people. I have a multitude of them! Walking around the Big White House, I realized they were everywhere…

“Dogs leave pawprints on your heart.”

“Once upon a time, I picked up a golden retriever puppy and the rest is history.”

“There’s always room for one more dog.”

“Love is being owned by a golden retriever.”

That is just a sampling! However, one sign is missing. It should say, “Strive to be more Golden!”

Watching my boys today, I realized that their qualities are almost perfect. Loyal, patient, appreciative and loving, they never hold a grudge or attempt to get even. Fun, energetic, accepting and devoted, their positive attitude is contagious. They are just about perfection on four legs.

All three are at my feet as I write and I am humbled. Asking for nothing in return, except affection and a treat now-and-then, they are examples of what we might strive to be!
