Day 1340
I often marvel at the trust my Goldens place in me (and others). Of course, I have never hurt them or done anything that would NOT be in their best interest, but it seems their wild wolf heritage would create distrust. Never…very humbling.
If I inadvertently step on a tail, they come to me for comfort and I am totally forgiven. Taking them to the veterinary clinic, leaving them for the evening or cutting a nail too close… instant forgiveness. Humans are not so forgiving.
When a person breaks a promise of any kind, displays deceit or purposely hurts someone’s feelings, it takes a long time to regain trust. It is said that if you learn a piano piece wrong, it takes ten times, playing it correctly, to relearn properly. It would seem to take many more opportunities than that to rebuild trust.
A lesson I learned long ago was to never break the trust between myself and another in my life. If, by accident, that occurs, apologizing profusely and immediately is the path to take. Trust is fragile…very fragile. It is a gift to be trusted by another.
If we were more Golden, we would always have a “Get Out of Jail Free” card. Until then, I plan to be trustworthy with all those loved ones in my world.
