Day 1380

Day 1380. “Walking With Goldens”

Today, Charlie and Hank had a short session outside in the sunshine. Other than transferring to cars, they have not had much experience with exploring the big outdoors. This afternoon’s adventure found them exploring the yard (solo) and feeling the wind in their hair. A few leaves were devoured, but each little guy seemed to look at the world in awe! They came inside and drifted off into a blissful sleep.

When is the “last time” you did something for the “first time?” I find that, as I get older, it is harder to coordinate

those experiences. Through the decades, I have had such adventures, so they get checked off that “List of Firsts.” Also, my family won’t let me do anything really exotic for fear that I might break a limb! Still, it is a thrill to experience something totally new now and then.

Learning a new skill, trying a different sport/game, traveling to an exciting and awe-inspiring destination, or even trying a new recipe can get the brain and spirit to remain active and engaged.

Being an “old soul,” I am quite content with my daily schedule of comfortable events. However, pushing the envelope to try new things is usually rewarding. Just watching The little Golden Boys and the newness of so many “firsts” reminds me to not be afraid of embracing something new…they certainly aren’t!
